1st Quarter Awardees

Just before our 3 day holiday, I presented the 1st quarter awards/certificates to my students.

JROTC

We had a visitor one Wednesday morning, a JROTC students. They were in our school to help every teachers as part of their community service training. Before we head to our regular class discussion however, we had two of the JROTC students do a show-and-tell about themselves and what they do. My students couldn’t stop calling them soldiers. They especially enjoyed when Darwin, one of the JROTC student, showed them some of their march.

Thanksgiving

Before our thanksgiving break, we had a classroom activity where all of my students created a turkey hat which they joyfully brought home. We also had a little snack (mostly came from parents – thanks so much).

Watching Video

We sometimes use our Safari Montage server to watch videos related to our topic. Some of the videos we’ve already seen were about the tsunami, addition/subtraction, telling time, mammals, food pyramid/food group.

Trick or Treat

The theme of the student’s show-and-tell today was their costumes. Every students who are wearing their costumes shared why they chose that costumes and why that costume was important to them.

We then all went outside our classroom to start our trick or treats…. First stop was the office then SPED’s classroom where Mr. Peter showed us some scary video clips… All of them enjoyed the short video though they all screamed.

“Trick or treat, smell my feet. Give me something good to eat.
If you don’t, I won’t be sad. I’ll just make you wish you had!”
These were my students song for the day! They sang these parts of the song in almost every classrooms we went to!

After dropping by 5 more classrooms it was our turn to welcome visitors in our own room. All students who are wearing costumes enjoyed greeting our visitors. After that students received their treats from me. My baby who was wearing her own pink butterfly costume together with her daddy went to our classroom few minutes before class dismissal.

2:30pm arrived so fast… dismissal time again but everybody enjoyed the costumes they were wearing as well as receiving their treats… sweets… sweets… and more sweets…

National Food Services Workers Week

In Commemoration of the National Food Services Worker’s Week, all second grade students went to the Cafeteria right after recess to sing the song we also studied about healthy food.
